STUDENTS New to Residence

Move-in for NEW TO RESIDENCE students is Sunday, January 10th from 1-4 pm, or Monday, January 11th beginning at 9 am! If you are a brand-new to TWU student, we encourage you to arrive on Sunday if at all possible, in order to be able to move in and get settled prior to Orientation Day on Monday.  Please take time to read the following information thoroughly and make note of what you'll need to do.

Before you arrive:

If you plan on arriving on Sunday, you will need to register for a specific time to arrive on campus and move into your dorm. You will have one hour to move into your residence.

A maximum of two family members/helpers can accompany you to help with your move. They will need to stay in your dorm and cannot access other parts of campus, and must leave campus within 1 hour of when they arrived.

Please bring a mask as it will be needed at some point in the move-in process. If you do not have one, one will be provided.

When you arrive on campus at your selected time:

You'll be greeted by a student leader and directed to the appropriate dorm building. (If you are feeling ill, you will be asked to move in at a later date. If anyone in the vehicle is ill, they will not be allowed to get out of the vehicle while on campus.)

Once you arrive at your residence, you will check-in with Community Life staff and Student Leaders.Family members/helpers will need to wear a mask upon entering the building and common areas (e.g. hallways, lounges). Masks can be removed in your room.

During your move-in block, you must be in your vehicle, in your room, or moving between the two. It will not be possible to access other parts of campus.

  • Washrooms in the residence lounges are available for guests' use.
  • There will not be food available for family members/helpers on campus during the day. Students will be able to access the cafeteria.

RETURNING STUDENTS

Move-in for RETURNING students begins:

  • Friday afternoon, January 8th

Please take time to read the following information thoroughly and make note of what you'll need to do.

Before you arrive:

If you are feeling ill, please move in at a later date when you no longer have symptoms! If you arrive on campus feeling ill you will be asked to move in at a later date.

Plan on completing your move-in as quickly as possible, and you may only bring a maximum of two family members/helpers to accompany you to help with your move. They will only be able to access your room and cannot access other parts of campus. Guests must also leave campus within 1 hour of when they arrived.

Please bring a mask as it is now required when indoors in common areas on campus.

When you arrive on campus:

Head straight to the appropriate residence building. If anyone in the vehicle is ill, they will not be allowed to get out of the vehicle while on campus.

  • Keys (if applicable) will be handed out in the Student Life Office. If other students are being served, please wait at a safe distance of at least 2 meters from others. 
  • Family members/helpers will need to wear a mask upon entering a residence building and common areas (e.g. hallways, lounges). Masks can be removed in your room.
  • Storage rooms will be open for students to obtain belongings stored over the summer. Only one person should access a storage room at a time.

While moving in, any family members for friends accompanying you must only participate in the process of moving you in, and may not participate in any other activities. It will not be possible for them to access other parts of campus.

  • Washrooms in the residence lounges are available for guests' use.
  • There will not be food available for family members/helpers on campus during the day. Students will be able to access the cafeteria.
