English Professor Jan Lermitte will talk about the ideas on women held by the novelist, poet, and playwright Dorothy L. Sayers.
Dorothy Leigh Sayers (1893-1957) was a scholar, master of languages, author of popular detective stories, essayist, playwright, lay theologian, and friend of C. S. Lewis and other Inklings of Oxford.
Her essay, “Are Women Human?” offers a witty and thought-provoking reflection on the problem of “equality” for women and men in society, a perspective which continues to resonate in current discussions of gender and identity.
