TWU Indigenous Initiatives: Walk for Shaylanna
All TWU students, staff, and faculty are invited to join this 2.5 km Walk for Shaylanna to show solidarity and
raise awareness for the missing daughter of TWU Alumni, Monica Brown-Lewis. Shaylanna went missing in March 2020.
Similar walks are happening in Vancouver and Haida Gwaii. Here at TWU, the walk is being planned by Siya:m Patti Victor and colleagues in the School of Nursing. We will gather for an opening with Siya:m Patti Victor, and then walk in solidarity with Shaylanna and her family, and then gather again to close. Wear red in support.
About Indigenous Initiatives at TWU
Here at Trinity Western, we seek to hear, understand and acknowledge our shared history with Indigenous peoples and the impact that it continues to have throughout the generations. As a global Christian university, TWU continues to foster greater knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, worldview, and history among students, staff, and faculty. We do this by providing educational opportunities, engaging in community partnerships, and through caring for and supporting Indigenous students. Learn more at Indigenous Initiatives at TWU.
