The DeVries Centre at TWU is now the new home for future educators

Honouring the DeVries family's legacy of generosity

TWU’s School of Education has moved into a new building on campus to accommodate greater enrolment. The newly renovated DeVries Centre provides double the classroom capacity and plenty of natural lighting. Additionally, the building’s top floors provide housing for many students.

The School of Education Open House is on Saturday October 23, 2021 drop-in from 1:00–4:00 p.m. Come celebrate with us, take a tour of the new facility, and enjoy some refreshments.

Trinity Western University is grateful for the generous support of donors Dewey and Dina DeVries, who have supported Christian education and ministry throughout their lives.

As a designer and builder, Dewey started his career building churches throughout Western Canada. As the family grew and they settled in Surrey, Dewey and Dina formed Dewey DeVries Construction, which later became the family business, Dozyn Dezyn Properties (to reflect his six children and their partners), led by his oldest son, DJ.

Charitable giving has always been a core value of Dozyn Dezyn Properties. They have been faithful donors to Trinity Western University for the past 15 years. Upon the recent sale of the business, a legacy gift was given towards renovating the Northwest Building at TWU, now known as the DeVries Centre.

This newly completed building is a testament of the DeVries’ faithful support of Christian ministry. Five endowed scholarships were also established, ensuring student financial support for generations to come.

On behalf of President Husbands, the Faculty, Staff, and Students of Trinity Western University, we extend our heartfelt thanks and profound gratitude for the incredible generosity and kindness of the DeVries Family for their investment in Trinity Western University, and in the lives of many future educators.
