Inauguration Ceremony to Recognize Trinity Western University’s Fifth President, Dr. Mark Husbands

Langley, British Columbia: Trinity Western University (TWU) has appointed Dr. Mark Husbands as its fifth President and Vice-Chancellor. To mark his official appointment, Trinity Western University is holding an inauguration ceremony at the David E. Enarson Gymnasium located at its Langley campus on Saturday, October 5, at 10 a.m.

TWU’s Board of Governors selected Husbands as their unanimous first choice after an extensive search conducted by the university’s presidential search committee.

“I’m terribly excited about being here—to witness the tremendous work that faculty and staff do to help students discover meaning, purpose, and calling in Christ,” says Husbands. “It is a profound joy to lead a Christian university that helps students connect their faith and learning to the deepest needs and challenges of the world.”

Husbands, who began his tenure on July 2, comes to TWU from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, where he served as Vice-President for Academic Affairs. Prior to joining Northwestern’s administration, he was the Leonard and Marjorie Maas Chair of Reformed Theology and Director of the Emmaus Scholars Program at Hope College in Holland, Mich. His experience also includes six years as Assistant Professor of Theology at Wheaton College in Chicago, Ill., and two years at Tyndale University College and Seminary in Toronto, Ont., where he taught theology and directed its extension education and summer school.

“Mark has the credentials and experience to provide distinguished leadership, but more importantly, he has the heart and passion to provide servant leadership to our university and to advance the evangelical mission of TWU,” says Lorne Jacobson, Chairman of the Board of Governors.

The inauguration ceremony will be livestream broadcast.
