Trinity Western University’s Gender Studies Institute is gearing up to host the next event in their lecture series.
Tomorrow evening, January 20, Benjamin L. Corey will give a lecture called “Undiluted Inclusivity: How moving beyond a fundamentalist view of God and gender promotes deeper inclusion.” He’ll explore the relationship between theology and inclusivity, and invite listeners to create hospitable spaces modelled on Jesus’ teachings.
“Gender, gender identity, sexual orientation and many other facets related to topics in gender studies continue to be topics we all struggle with to some extent,” said Robynne Healey, a TWU professor and the co-director of the Gender Studies Institute. “These issues can create hurdles to full participation in Christian community. Providing an arena where open and authentic dialogue about the relationship between faith and gender can take place is one of the goals of the Gender Studies Institute.”
Corey is the author of a book called Undiluted: Rediscovering the Radical Message of Jesus (Destiny Publishers 2014) and a popular blog called “Formerly Fundie.” He is also completing a doctorate at Fuller Theological Seminary.
The lecture begins at 7 p.m. at TWU’s Northwest Auditorium.
