TWU welcomes new Senior Vice President of External Relations

President Bob Kuhn and the Trinity Western University Board of Governors are pleased to welcome Scott Fehrenbacher, M.A., into the role of Senior Vice President, External Relations, at TWU.

“Scott brings with him a wealth of accomplishments and gifts that will be an extraordinary asset to TWU,” said President Kuhn. “He has a history of leading organizational growth and brand development, and we look forward to benefiting from his experience and enthusiasm as Scott fills an important role on our team of senior leaders.”

In addition to his role on TWU’s Executive Leadership Team, Fehrenbacher’s portfolio will include marketing communications, enrolment management, and alumni and community engagement. He brings more than 15 years of senior leadership experience in several well-known faith-based, non-profit and for-profit organizations.

Most recently Fehrenbacher served as a Senior Vice-President at Grand Canyon University, the fastest-growing Christian university in the United States over the last three years. He led GCU’s marketing, recruiting and brand strategy, and in only five years, saw campus enrolment grow from 1,000 to over 15,000 and online enrolment from 22,000 to over 60,000.

For Fehrenbacher, enrolment growth will be only part of Trinity Western’s future success. He was drawn to TWU because of its reputation for top-notch academics and student development, meaningful community engagement, and commitment to biblical Christian principles.

“I believe that Trinity Western University delivers what thousands of serious students and their parents are desperately looking for,” Fehrenbacher said. “By spreading the TWU story across North America and the rest of the globe, I am confident that the university will solidify its position as one of the preeminent Christian universities in the world.”

Fehrenbacher is recognized for a leadership style that prioritizes strategic relationship building, innovation, and results-oriented action plans in marketing, fundraising and public relations.

At GCU, he recruited Bart Millard, the founder and lead singer of the Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning group MercyMe, to serve as the Director of a new Center for Worship Arts. As President and CEO of Crosswalk.com, the world’s leading Christian faith-based web portal, he pioneered the positive use of the web for ministry through innovative technology and new business models. In addition, he founded and led New Iron Media to become the largest faith-based media sales firm in the U.S.

“I’ve been fortunate to work with and visit dozens of Christian universities, and, in my experience, TWU stands among a small handful of schools that provide a global Christian outlook combined with uncompromising academic rigor and a definitive commitment to faith,” he said. “I’m excited to join a team representing a special kind of leadership focused on a common goal of investing into the lives of TWU students for eternal impact.”
