Based on the recommendations of the Office of the Provost, the Community Covenant Editing Committee, and the University Policy Council, the President approved as administrative policy a newCommunity Covenant Agreement on August 17, 2009. The Community Covenant Agreement supports the essence and ends of the University, makes clear the organization’s commitment to being a unique and particular Christian university; provides employees, students and affiliates with clear expectations of working, living, and learning within a faith community; and promotes an engaged and integrated campus community environment that optimizes whole person development. On July 1, 2008, President Raymond charged the Trinity Western community and Provost with the mandate (PDF) to revisit the University's Responsibilities of Membership Agreement for the purpose of updating, strengthening, revising, and renewing its formal written statement of covenant. In response, a Community Covenant Editing Committee was formed to conduct a thorough study. Research included a graduate and undergraduate survey of over 700 students that measured awareness, adherence and support for TWU's Responsibilities of Membership. The Community Covenant Editing Committee included two undergraduate faculty, one graduate faculty, two undergraduate students (TWUSA), one graduate student (TWUGSA) and two academic professional staff from Student Life.
