The SIMulation Lab Expansion Project is Completed!

We are pleased to announce the opening of two new clinical learning spaces in the School of Nursing: A second Clinical Skills Lab and a new high-fidelity SIMulation Lab.

Our vision for this project was to expand opportunities for lifelike point-of-care learning experiences for TWU undergraduate nursing students.

With the generous support of the Schroeder, Pasiuk and Menaldum Families, we converted a classroom into a Clinical Skills Lab, and a small Lab into a state-of-the-art high fidelity SIMulation Lab, set up like a hospital room.  This room uses innovative technology such as a high-fidelity, computerized mannequin and sophisticated filming and monitoring capabilities to play out, film and review comprehensive clinical scenarios.

The new Labs officially opened in September 2016.  A donor reception was held before the official start of classes to acknowledge these families, and to provide a first-hand demonstration the new labs.

These Clinical Skills and SIMulation labs provide students the opportunity to learn and practice in a realistic and risk-free environment.  SIMulated learning experiences complement learning in clinical settings (e.g., hospitals).  They offer invaluable opportunities to enrich and enhance learning, as well as to increase student confidence.
