What is a virtual ceremony?

Trinity Western University’s virtual convocation ceremony brings together many of the same components as the in-person ceremony while respecting COVID-19 restrictions pertaining to large gatherings. Graduands and guests are being invited to participate by viewing the ceremony from the comfort of their homes.

When is the virtual ceremony?

The pre-show will be aired live on May 1, 2021, at 3:30p.m. PST and the ceremony will begin at 4:00p.m. PST.

Will I (the graduand) be required to turn on a camera to be seen in the ceremony?

No, cameras will not be required. There will be a part in the program where you will be asked to wear your cap and move your tassel, but you won’t be seen by the viewing audience.

How long will the virtual ceremony be?

The 30-minute preshow starts at 3:30 p.m. PST, followed by the main 45-minute portion of the ceremony.

How can I watch the virtual ceremony?

You will receive an email with Eventbrite registration details that you can forward on to your family and friends. Once registered, you will receive a link prior to the event to view the live airing.

Can my family and friends watch the virtual ceremony?

We encourage you to share this special day with family and friends. To celebrate this milestone achievement, forward the registration link you received via email to either watch it in your own homes or gather in a small group while respecting COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.

Will the ceremony be available to watch at a later date?

Yes, we will be posting a link where you can watch the ceremonies after they have aired.

What if we have a few family members graduating from different faculties/schools?

There is one ceremony for all faculties/schools.

Is my faculty/department/program doing anything to celebrate either before or after the ceremony?

Your faculty/department/program will be in contact with you to let you know if a reception is being hosted. As we become aware of these receptions, they will be posted.

How will I receive my diploma?

Most student diplomas will be sent out in the mail, separate from the Celebration Package, after the date of conferral. We will email you to confirm your current/preferred delivery address when your diploma is ready to be mailed. On-campus pickup in Langley may also be arranged. More information will be sent out by email once your diploma has been issued.

When will I receive my diploma?

This will depend on your official degree conferral date. Most Spring 2021 graduates will receive a conferral date of May 31 and will have their diploma available over the summer (provided all coursework is completed during the Spring semester, prior to the May 31 conferral date). If you finished your courses in Fall 2020, you should have already received your diploma. Please put in a helpdesk ticket here if you have questions about your degree conferral date or diploma availability.

What is a Celebration Package?
