Originally from Mexico City, José now lives in Langley, B.C. with his lovely wife and beautiful daughter. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with co-op designation from the University of Victoria, and a Master of Science in Chemical Biology from the University of Toronto. He has worked in a variety of laboratories ranging from industrial pulp and paper mills, protein x-ray crystallography academic labs, to cutting edge biotechnology research labs developing novel antibody-drug conjugates. He has experience with recombinant protein cloning, expression, total organic synthesis of small molecules, designing assays for the detection of enzymatic activity, and in silico molecular docking technologies. His interests lie at the interface of biology and chemistry- in particular, the chemistry that dictates the behavior of various carbohydrates and lipids in vivo. As an avid Masterchef USA aficionado, he also loves to put his chemistry skills to the test in the kitchen. He also works in admissions for Catholic Pacific College (formerly Redeemer Pacific College).
