SAMC Theatre presents: AWAKE
Three decades of alumni. Countless productions. Raucous 11:07 improv shows. Innumerable encounters with humanity. It’s all coming to a close.
AWAKE: to start to understand or feel something
A WAKE: a gathering held before a dead person is buried, at which family and friends talk about the person’s life
In response to news that the Theatre Department will be closing, alumni sent in stories of their time here, and these inspirations were used by current students to create AWAKE – a funny, insightful, and moving celebration of the legacy of Theatre at TWU.
Like a live scrapbook of memories, AWAKE celebrates the impact the department has had on decades of students. The show presents snapshots of past productions and glimpses behind the scenes that reveal the thoughts and journeys of Theatre alumni. Letters, scenes, poems, songs, dances, and verbatim testimony are woven together into a compelling narrative of awakening and transformation.
Come laugh and cry with us as we honour the gift of theatre and celebrate what this department has meant to so many.
