Langley, British Columbia: Trinity Western University (TWU) announced today that Mat Marquez has been appointed as Director of Admissions for American Markets. The establishment of this new position at TWU reflects both a strategic focus to build awareness of the university in the United States and the rapid rise in interest in TWU among high school students in the United States.
“Mat Marquez has a proven track record in admissions management and student retention at a leading Christian university in the United States,” says Scott Fehrenbacher, Senior Vice President of External Relations for TWU. “We are so pleased to have Mat bring his expertise to Trinity Western University. As head of admissions for U.S. students, Mat Marquez will serve as a direct connection to the university for incoming students from the U.S.”
TWU had 462 applications from the U.S. for the 2017-2018 school year, representing a 214% increase over the number of U.S. based applicants four years ago. In addition, TWU has historically held three Preview Weekends for high school students and their parents to visit the university. In 2016-2017 the university added a fourth Preview Weekend to meet demand, and 26% of Preview Weekend attendees came from the U.S., representing a 205% increase over four years ago.
Marquez previously worked for Grand Canyon University (GCU), a private Christian university in Arizona, as Regional Admissions Manager and Regional Director of Admissions Operations for Southern California, one of the most sought-after education markets in the United States.
