Commuter Programs

Students who live off-campus are encouraged to be involved in the university community. All student programs and services at TWU are available to commuting students.

Commuter students have helped shape the TWU community since its beginning. They participate in clubs, student leadership, intramurals, Spartan Athletics, chapel bands, Discipleship Groups, and can be found studying in the library. Whether you live on or off campus, TWU offers access to the same programs, services, spaces, and opportunities to connect, belong, and grow. Our community is strengthened when resident and commuter students come together as one.

The Marlie Snider Collegia Program launched in 2001 as a "home away from home" for commuter students. TWU believes that community grows through shared physical spaces. Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment where commuter students can connect, study, and relax, making campus feel like home. 

With four unique spaces, there’s a place for everyone: undergrad students can access the Marlie Snider Collegium and West Coast Collegium, while graduate students are welcome in the Graduate Collegium. Each Collegium space is thoughtfully designed with cozy lounges, kitchens, dining and study areas, comfortable couches, computers, coffee, and even a fireplace. All students can also access the Trinity Commons. With its open floor plan, it offers ideal spots for study sessions, group projects, or a quick break at the nearby Bookstore Cafe.

The Collegia Program empowers Student Leaders to serve as Assistants, creating a space where hospitality and connection thrive. Whether through conversation, events, or simply providing a quiet place to study, our team fosters a community that seeks to help equip students for life beyond university.

Other On-Campus Amenities: 

Rhythms: Each of our spaces offer weekly rhythms (Pancake Brunches, BBQs, Board Games, Hot Chocolate and more!) that provide you with more opportunities to connect.

Events: Each semester our spaces host an event to foster further connection

Global Lounge: A space in the Khun Centre where students can sit and enjoy their break in-between classes

Starbucks: Located in the Khun Centre

The Lower Caf: Open in the evenings for students to order food, study, and connect

Reimer Cafeteria and Lounge: This is the main hub on campus to eat, meet with friends, and relax.

Parking Passes: Purchased through TWU Security

"Become a Regular. When you move into a new neighbourhood one of the best things you can do is consistently go for walks. As you become familiar with the rhythms of the neighborhood, from sights to sounds, things begin to feel familiar. You begin to feel known through this familiarity. Community takes work and time. Make the Collegiums a consistent part of your daily rhythm on campus. When you become a regular, you begin to make the unknown known and your sense of belonging will grow."

Resources

Being involved in community, both personally and professionally, is key to student success. Initially, visistors of the Collegiums are attracted to the warm ambiance, convenient access to computers and academic resources, and subsidized food. However, it is the richness of interaction with professors and peers in these campus hubs that leaves a memorable imprint on the student experience at TWU. Each year, student leaders facilitate the collegiums by hosting the lounges, organizing commuter events, and taking initiative on new opportunities to connect students to each other.
