At Trinity Western University we are committed to fostering an accessible and inclusive environment where students, staff, faculty, and community members can participate fully, equitably, and with dignity across our campus, learning spaces, services, and digital environments.
Accessibility Committee
TWU’s commitment to the creation of an accessible campus spans decades. More recently, in response to the Accessible BC Act, TWU established an Accessibility Committee. Bringing together students, staff, and faculty with a variety of experiences related to accessibility, the committee’s mandate is to identify, remove, and prevent access barriers, advise on accessibility priorities, develop an Accessibility Plan, and facilitate ongoing consultation and feedback.
Accessibility Feedback
The Accessibility Feedback Form helps the TWU Accessibility Committee better understand the experiences of people with disabilities when accessing TWU services and facilities. Insights shared by the TWU community via this tool will help guide the University on priority areas to enhance the accessibility of the campus environment.
Accessibility Plan
TWU is developing its first Accessibility Plan with an anticipated release date of Fall 2026. This plan, developed by the Accessibility Committee, will address eight standards pertaining to accessibility for people with disabilities.
Accessibility Policies
TWU’s accessibility-related policies include Accessibility at TWU, Accessible Learning, Campus Housing, and Animals on Campus.
Campus Accessibility
TWU Facilities Services use inclusive design and continuous improvements to identify and remove physical and logistical barriers to enhance participation in academic and community life.
Website & Digital Accessibility
A new, open access Accessibility Handbook for Teaching and Learning is a comprehensive digital accessibility resource specific to the post-secondary context.
Accessibility-Related Postsecondary Education
TWU’s School of Education offers an Inclusive Education Minor and a Master of Educational Studies in Inclusive Education. Courses across the disciplines related to accessibility in theoretical and applied contexts are offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
TWU's Teacher Education Program was the first in BC to require an introductory course in Special Education, now more commonly referred to as Inclusive Education. TWU also advocated to make the Special Education Minor an acceptable teachable subject option.
Currently, TWU offers an M.A. in Educational Studies—Inclusive Education, and an undergraduate Minor in Inclusive Education.
