Mental Health Services

University life is intellectually and emotionally challenging.

Our registered clinical counsellors and interns are here to help you navigate your time here at TWU and maximize your success. Meet our team.

Specialized Services

Student leaders who are concerned about a student and unsure of how to respond or would like to debrief a situation can access a free 30-minute consultation appointment with one of the counselling team members. The goal of this service is to help you sort out the relevant issues, explore alternative approaches, and identify useful resources.

To request a consultation, please call the Wellness Centre front desk at (604) 513-2100.

Build Healthier Habits, Stress Less, Feel Better

Campus life is exciting…and also a lot. Between academics, social pressure, and everyday life, it’s super common to fall into habits or patterns that don’t really support your wellbeing. If you’ve been feeling stuck, curious, or just wanting some healthier tools, we’re launching a brand‑new 7 week mental health group just for students.

This group is a welcoming, zero‑judgement space to explore why habits form, what keeps them going, and how to shift patterns in a way that actually feels doable. We’ll also gently touch on addictive or hard‑to‑change behaviours, focusing on understanding rather than shame. Together, we’ll build skills for managing stress, staying motivated, and making choices that feel more aligned with who you want to be.

Date: Every Monday, beginning Feb 2 from 6:30 p.m.–8 p.m.
Location: The Well, Douglas Centre

Want to join or learn more? Email MentalHealth@twu.ca to register. Space is limited.

Client Policies & Procedures

Find more information about our services, their benefits, our commitment to confidentiality and other policies under our Frequently Asked Questions section.

In-person or video counselling services are available to TWU students living in Canada except those located in Alberta, Ontario (excluding LLC students), Quebec, Nova Scotia or New Brunswick, as those provinces have different regulations.

We offer the same services to TWU employees and encourage you to inquire with us about options as well as our referral list.

We cannot offer remote services to students located outside of Canada, but our web-based, peer service, TalkCampus, is accessible worldwide and 24/7 in multiple languages.

TWU students pay a reduced fee for counselling as the university heavily subsidizes these services.

  • $35 per session with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)
  • $25 per session with a Graduate Student Intern

TWU employees are charged $100 per counselling session; those eligible for TWU’s group health plan have access to coverage for counselling through Canada Life up to $300/year. Please check your employee Benefit Booklet for additional coverage details or reach out to your People & Culture representative for more information.
