School of Education Accreditation

As a global Christian university, Trinity Western affirms the inherent dignity and value of every person as created in the image of God and is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment. Grounded in the authority of Scripture, TWU holds to a biblically orthodox view of human flourishing as part of its distinctly Christian identity, which is reflected in its mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.

TWU’s Teacher Education programs adhere to the standards and guidelines set by the governing bodies and advisory agencies in the province of British Columbia.

BC Teachers’ Council (BCTC)

TWU’s teacher education program is approved by the BC Teachers’ Council according to the Teacher Education Program Approval Standards

Within this broader institutional context, and in accordance with regulatory requirements established by the BC Teachers’ Council (BCTC)—the provincial authority responsible for accrediting and overseeing teacher education programs (TEP) in B.C.—TEP faculty and sessional instructors are not required to sign, abide by, or support the Community Covenant.

BC Teacher Regulation Branch (BCTRB)

Upon completion of the program, teacher candidates are recommended by TWU to the BC TRB for a Certificate of Qualification (COQ)—B.C.’s professional teaching certificate for K-12 schools.

Teacher Qualification Service (TQS)

Upon graduation, TWU teacher candidates are eligible to apply to the TQS for category level 5 placement for teaching in public schools in B.C.
