TEDS International Applicants

Trinity Western University welcomes students from around the world to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS). We’re excited that you’re considering Trinity Western as you look to further your education. On this page, you’ll find information specifically for international applicants to TEDS programs.

Application Fees

International applicants to TEDS are not currently required to pay an application fee.

Please note that international applicants may still be responsible for other application-related costs, including the degree evaluation fee, where applicable.

English Language Requirements

In addition to the standard admissions requirements, international applicants are required to submit a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), Cambridge English Qualifications, PTE Academic, or a Duolingo English Test as proof of your English language abilities. 

Some TEDS programs may have additional or higher English language requirements. Please review the admission requirements for the specific program you are interested in.

The English language requirement may be exempted if you have completed three consecutive years of full-time post-secondary education in English within Canada, the United States, or an approved country. Approved countries are Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, Jamaica, Hispaniola, Anguilla, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Grenada, Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Trinidad, Tobago, Caicos and Turks, the Bahamas, and Bermuda. 

The English language requirement may also be exempted if you have completed three consecutive years of full-time post-secondary education in an internationally recognized English curriculum within the following countries immediately prior to enrolment at TWU: South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Please provide a school-issued document confirming English as the medium of instruction. A school profile may also be required. TWU reserves the right to reassess English proficiency throughout the admissions process and while studying at TWU.

Degree Evaluation

Trinity Western University requires that the academic records of applicants who have completed their degrees outside of Canada and/or the United States be assessed for Canadian equivalency. We require a course-by-course or comprehensive assessment.

This service is provided by a number of organizations. Trinity Western University accepts assessments from in-house TWU Degree Evaluation Services or the four other organizations listed below.

Tuition Fees

Trinity Western’s tuition rates are the same whether you are a local or international student. See current tuition rates for your program of interest on our Tuition & Fees page.

BC Medical Fees

All non-Canadian students who will reside in British Columbia during the academic year are required to enrol in the BC Medical Services Plan. Students relocating to B.C. may also require temporary medical insurance through Guard.Me while waiting for MSP coverage to begin.

Some TEDS students travel to campus only for short, one- to two-week intensive courses once or twice per year and may have different medical insurance requirements. These students may require temporary medical insurance or Guard.Me coverage for the duration of their stay in Canada.

Financial Aid

International students are eligible for TWU scholarships and financial aid. Once you have filled out your application for admission, you may apply for TWU financial aid.

At this time, we do not offer any scholarships or financial awards that would cover the entire cost of tuition.

Student Visas

Canadian immigration authorities will only grant student visas once you have been accepted into a TEDS program. Upon acceptance to a TWU TEDS program and payment of the tuition deposit, we will send you an official acceptance letter as well as a form that outlines your study period and the cost of your program. You will need both of these documents to obtain a student visa. It is also likely that you will be required to provide evidence of sufficient funds to support yourself during your first year of study. LearnLiveBC

The BC government has launched a refreshed LearnLiveBC website that provides international students with a comprehensive, easy-to-navigate interactive guide to learning and living in the province. Through the site, foreign students can access information about BC's PSE and K-12 system; use toolkits to find a BC school or institution, apply to a school or institution, and make travel arrangements; and find information about living and working in BC while attending an educational institution and options for transitioning to permanent residency following graduation. LearnLiveBC is available in multiple languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.
