Priority Deadlines

The LLC welcomes applications for both fall and spring semesters. Apply by the following priority deadlines:

What “priority” means

Applications submitted after the priority deadline may still be considered. Because each internship placement is arranged individually, applying by the priority deadline gives the LLC more time to find a strong match.

After acceptance, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place. Visit the Finances page for complete program cost information.

Who Can Apply

The LLC welcomes students from all majors. The program is open to TWU students and visiting undergraduate or graduate students from eligible institutions. All applicants use the same application.

Students currently enrolled at TWU’s Langley campus or our Richmond campus site may apply.
Applicants must: 

  • Complete at least 60 semester hours before beginning the LLC semester.
  • Have a minimum average GPA of 2.75.
  • Complete or be enrolled in the required prerequisite course.

Consult your academic advisor to determine which semester best fits your degree and how the LLC courses will apply to your program.

Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a university or college that is a member of Christian Higher Education Canada or Universities Canada may apply as visiting students.

Before applying:

  • Request a letter of permission from your home institution.
  • Confirm with your registrar that LLC course credits will transfer to your program.

Visiting students will be students of Trinity Western University for their semester at the LLC. You live in the same house, take the same courses, hold the same kind of placement, and belong to the same cohort. Not sure whether your institution is eligible? Contact the LLC team before applying.

International students are welcome to apply through the TWU or visiting-student pathway, depending on their current institution. Contact the LLC team before applying to confirm the academic, study permit, and internship requirements that apply to your circumstances.

Admission Criteria

The following criteria are typically used to evaluate admission to the LLC:

  • Academic record
    Demonstrates readiness for upper-level coursework and a demanding placement.
  • Commitment to a Living and Learning Community
    Shows a willingness to contribute positively to a shared community.
  • Leadership experience
    Demonstrates initiative through school, work, ministry, or community involvement.
  • Character
    Reflects integrity, maturity, and responsibility.
  • Past life and work experience
    Provides a foundation for succeeding and contributing to a professional environment.

Prerequisites

  • POLS 234: Introduction to Canadian Government & Politics
    The standard prerequisite for most applicants, regardless of their major.
     
  • BUSI 245: Foundations of Business Law in Canada
    Business students may complete BUSI 245 instead of POLS 234.
     
  • An Approved Equivalent Course
    Students from other institutions may submit a comparable course that provides a foundation in the Canadian government system. Send the course outline to the LLC team for review before applying.

How to Apply to the LLC

Step 1

Check Your Eligibility
Confirm your semester hours, GPA, and which student pathway applies to you.

Step 2

Confirm Your Prerequisite
Confirm that you have completed POLS 234, BUSI 245, or an approved equivalent course.

Step 3

Talk with Your Advisor
Choose the semester that best fits your degree. Visiting students should request a letter of permission.

Step 4

Submit Your Application
Complete the online application by the priority deadline.

Step 5

Receive Your Acceptance
We will review your application and contact you with the decision.

Step 6

Secure Your Place
Once accepted, submit the $500 non-refundable deposit to confirm your place in the cohort.

After your place is secured, you will meet with the LLC executive director to discuss your goals and begin the internship placement process.
