Trinity Western University and the BC-India Business Network (BC-IBN) welcomed entrepreneurs, aspiring founders, students, mentors, and business leaders to TWU Richmond on Saturday, Aug. 22 for Launchpad: Idea to Impact, an afternoon dedicated to entrepreneurship, innovation, and community building. Hosted at TWU's Richmond campus site, the event created opportunities for participants to learn from experienced entrepreneurs, showcase emerging ventures, and build meaningful connections within the local startup ecosystem.
The event featured keynote presentations, founder stories, startup pitches, mentorship conversations, and networking opportunities. Participants represented a wide range of entrepreneurial experiences, from individuals exploring their first business idea to seasoned entrepreneurs eager to share lessons learned from their own journeys. There were two keynotes, four startups, six mentors, and nearly 50 participants at Launchpad.
A highlight of the afternoon was the startup showcase, where four ventures presented their ideas and received feedback from entrepreneurs, mentors, and community members. Among the presenters was a venture currently supported by EMBARK, TWU's venture incubator, highlighting the University's commitment to helping founders move from idea to validation and growth.
Throughout the day, speakers encouraged participants to take action, embrace learning, and pursue opportunities even when the path ahead may not be fully clear.
Beyond the formal program, the event provided valuable opportunities for relationship building. Founders, professionals, students, and community leaders gathered to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore future collaborations. The conversations reflected a shared belief that entrepreneurship thrives when supported by a strong and connected community.
The event was organized by the BC-IBN Youth Council, whose volunteer leaders brought together entrepreneurs, mentors, students, and community members for an afternoon of learning, inspiration, and connection.
