TWU is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Rosemary Flaaten as the Executive Director of the Laurentian Leadership Centre. Prior to her work in the United States, Dr. Flaaten held multiple adjunct professor roles at higher education institutions in Alberta, teaching leadership development, spiritual formation, and sexuality. She also operated a consulting practice offering corporate workshops, personal life coaching, and spiritual direction. In addition, she served in a variety of leadership roles at Centre Street Church in Calgary, including as a member of the preaching team.

Dr. Flaaten brings extensive international teaching experience, having taught in England, Colombia, Haiti, Mali, South Africa, New Zealand, El Salvador, Mexico, and India, as well as throughout Canada and the United States.

Her academic background includes a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership (Denver Seminary, 2025), with research focused on women’s experiences of gender bias in the academy, an MA in Christian Counseling, and a BEd. She is also the author of A Woman and Her Relationships and A Woman and Her Workplace (Beacon Hill Press), the latter also published in Spanish.

Rosemary and her husband, Norlee, are avid outdoor enthusiasts and are delighted to be returning to Canada, where they look forward to hiking, cycling, kayaking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Rosemary also enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, hospitality, and board games. While she admits to being “slightly competitive,” she is most energized by spending time with people, forming new friendships, and journeying alongside others.
