Flavia Cionca, MSN, RN
Flavia Cionca’s scholarship has been characterized by the desire to uphold social justice and promote health equity for people experiencing poverty and other marginalizing circumstances. She is interested in exploring how poverty intersects with diverse health and social experiences. Flavia is driven by her faith and consistently seeks ways to integrate a health equity lens into her teaching and research, having a keen interest in uncovering and challenging the conditions that lead to inequitable health outcomes.
Flavia seeks to inspire a spirit of inquiry in her students and to communicate the importance of lifelong learning to them. She strives to tailor her teaching to students’ unique learning needs and thoroughly enjoys learning alongside them throughout their academic journey.
Flavia is thrilled to be able to pursue research, teaching, and scholarship, and to share her faith and passion for social justice, within a vibrant community of colleagues and students at TWU.

Expertise
Flavia Cionca’s expertise centers on the areas of health equity, poverty, and the social determinants of health. She has explored the integration of quantitative and qualitative methods in health research.
