Imbenzi George, PhD

Assistant Professor of Leadership
I aim to be a transformational servant leader—engaging learners' heads, hearts, and hopes and empowering them to turn knowledge into action for the common good. I put the learner first, teach with honesty, integrity, and compassion, and believe education is a vital means of shaping effective public policy and a better world.

Dr. Imbenzi George is Assistant Professor of Graduate Leadership and Business at Trinity Western University, where he has taught since 2012, and served as the University's Director of International Engagement (Africa/Asia) from 2016 to 2026. He has designed more than ten online graduate courses in leadership, public administration, ethics, business, and global engagement, supporting the learning of over 3,000 students, and has built academic partnerships and internship pipelines across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia in the health, education, agriculture, micro-finance, and energy sectors.

Alongside his academic work, Dr. George has been President and CEO of Myert Corps Inc., a British Columbia employment services organization, since 1995, stewarding approximately $30.1 million in government-funded budgets over the past two decades. From 2009 to 2026 he served as Honorary Consul General of Kenya for Western Canada, advancing bilateral cooperation in education, trade, and technology. In 2021 he served as a Sessional Graduate School Mentor and Advisor to MLD Fellows at Harvard Kennedy School.

Dr. George holds a PhD in Public Policy and Administration (Walden University), an LLM in International Law: Conflict, Security and Human Rights (Leeds Beckett University), an MA in Leadership (Trinity Western University), and a Bachelor of Religious Education (Columbia Bible College), with executive training at Harvard Kennedy School. A transformational servant leader in the classroom, he publishes on governance, public policy, diversity, and international education, writes a regular column for PA Times, and is the author of two books: Faculty Leadership for AI Integration in Higher Education and Restorative Justice for Youth: Healing over Punishment. He has delivered keynote addresses in Canada, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa Malaysia, Vietnam, India, Kenya, the United Kingdom, China, Rome-Italy and the Netherlands.
