Admission Requirements
Qualified applicants who wish to apply may begin anytime to send the following documents and information to admissions@twu.ca:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7.
- 12 hours of undergraduate linguistic courses. Students without the linguistics prerequisite courses can complete them through the summer semester at CanIL.
- Two references: 1) pastoral 2) character. All references must be written by persons who know you well and can confidently speak of your character.
- A TOEFL score of 100 or IELTS score of 7 (if applicable).
- A personal statement (500–800 words) and a ministry goal statement (300–500 words).
Application Deadlines
Applications are reviewed as received throughout the year. Students without the prerequisite courses will need to enrol in summer studies at CanIL and begin the MALT in the fall. Students with prerequisite courses already completed have the option to begin in the spring semester. There is no summer direct entry to MALT.
Requirements for International Students
Successful applicants for the program in English will demonstrate English language proficiency at a graduate level of analysis and thinking. Finances
The standard tuition rate for the MA in Linguistics and Translation is $750 per semester hour. Scholarships are available for an average of 25% off total tuition, with a sample scholarship rate of $563 per semester hour. Our Financial Aid team will work with you to explore available options and create a personalized financial aid plan. Reach out to your enrolment advisor to learn more.
