This course focuses on nursing care of adults experiencing complex conditions with a focus on surgical care in hospital and community-based settings. Emphasis is placed on the nursing process considering factors that influence wellness in the midst of illness, pathophysiology of selected conditions, and sociocultural influences in health care.

Focuses on the application of planetary and global health concepts such as sustainability, capacity building, global burden of disease and social/ecological/structural determinants of health in a global health context. Promotes self-reflection, cultural humility, leadership development, and intersectoral communication and collaboration. Explores the historical, economic, political, religious, and geographical contexts, and their influence on the host community’s local healthcare systems and health of individuals and populations.

Focus is on how to provide a person-centered palliative approach to care for a growing population of individuals who have progressive life-limiting conditions, and their family caregivers.

In response to Canada's diverse society, this course provides the student opportunities to explore how religious, spiritual, and theological perspectives shape experiences of health, illness, and human suffering, with applications to spiritual caregiving and self-care practices of the helping professional

This course focuses on experiential learning in the provision of nursing care of children and their families. Emphasis is on the delivery of safe, client-centred and evidence-informed healthcare to children and their families in diverse settings. Clinical reasoning is emphasized in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.

Concepts of nursing care are related to families managing acute and chronic conditions in home and hospital settings. Nursing process, family theory, child health, family health, and family-centred care principles are related to care to emphasize health promotion and health maintenance activities.
