Admission Requirements
Qualified applicants who wish to apply may begin anytime to send the following documents and information to admissions@twu.ca:
- A master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
- Four references: one pastoral and three academic. All references must be written by persons who know you well and can confidently speak of your character.
- A TOEFL score of 100 or IELTS score of 7.0 (if applicable).
- A personal statement (500–800 words) and a research goal statement (300–500 words).
- An academic writing sample (approximately 7,000 words).
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score report.
Application Deadlines
There are two admission dates a year—in the fall and in the spring. The respective deadlines for domestic applications are Jan. 15 and Sept. 15.
Requirements for International Students
Successful applicants for the program in English will demonstrate English language proficiency at a graduate level of analysis and thinking. Please see the graduate studies international applicants webpage for a list of organizations that can provide an evaluation. Finances
The standard tuition rate for the PhD–Theological Studies is $880 per semester hour. Scholarships are available for an average of 25% off total domestic tuition, with a sample scholarship rate of $660 per semester hour. Additional scholarships and financial aid offerings will be available. Our Financial Aid team will work with you to explore available options and create a personalized financial aid plan.
