Alumni gather together in Calgary to support TWU and to serve the city

On November 19, over 60 alumni, parents, and families participated in a series of engagement events in Calgary, Alberta. The day began with a brunch reception hosted at Centre Street Church Bearspaw Campus.

President Mark Husbands and Sr. Vice President of Enrolment, Personal & Professional Development Brian Kerr had the opportunity to share the university’s vision to equip graduates for life and to invite the community to continue to participate in the life of the university.

"I was encouraged by connecting with so many alumni in Calgary as we gathered in multiple events to celebrate and support Trinity Western University.”

“Throughout the weekend, I was encouraged by connecting with so many alumni in Calgary as we gathered in multiple events to celebrate and support Trinity Western University. It’s always inspiring to meet and hear stories of our alumni who discovered their gifts while studying at TWU, and are now flourishing in their life and career,” says Clement Wee, Vice President of Alumni.

After the brunch, alumni headed over to The Mustard Seed, a non-profit organization that focuses on being a compassionate community striving to address issues of poverty and homelessness in the city. At the Sorting Centre, alumni went through bags of clothing donations to find items that could be gifted to those in need.

“When we travel for alumni events, we always enjoy finding opportunities to serve in local communities, especially in organizations connected with our alumni.”

The evening was spent cheering the TWU Spartans volleyball teams, as they played against Mount Royal University. TWU Spartans rallied twice to win a marathon five set match, and they remain undefeated in the season.

Engagement activities like these are expected to continue in other cities around Canada, with the next Alumni engagement taking place in Edmonton on December 3.
