Global convocation chapel event launches new semester at TWU

Voices from around the globe collaborated in this very special TWU Conovcation Chapel.

On September 9, 2020, Trinity Western University officially commenced the new academic year with Convocation Chapel.

Traditionally hosted in the David E. Enarson Gymnasium, this year, TWU's Convocation Chapel was live streamed online.

One very special feature of this year's event was the collaboration of voices from around the globe. Chapel speakers spoke words of greeeting in their own mother tongue, welcoming participants. Scripture was read and prayers were offered in a variety of languages, by undergraduate and graduate students, as well as by staff and faculty at TWU.

Rev. Dr. James Ellis formally opened the Chapel event. He was followed by Patti Victor, the University Siya:m, who led the invocation and prayer. President Mark Husbands delivered a sermon on Jeremiah 29:1-11, which is the inspiration for the University's theme in 2020-21: "Seek the peace and wellbeing of the city."

Other highlights include a musical prelude, performed by two students and led by Dr. Allan Thorpe, TWU Associate Professor of Music and Director of Instrumental Activities.
