New address for TWU Langley within Township's new University District

“The University District will allow for the expansion of TWU and create a hub of higher learning that will solidify the Township’s reputation as a centre for education and training,” said Township of Langley Mayor Jack Froese.

The opening of a vital transportation route means Trinity Western University has a new address, as it safely welcomes students back for the fall semester and works in partnership with the Township of Langley to encourage local economic resilience and recovery.

“With the 216th Street highway interchange now open, 80 Avenue will transition to be University Drive," said TWU President Mark Husbands.

The University's new address is now 22500 University Drive, Langley Twp, BC, V2Y 1Y1.

A community partner instrumental in creating the Langley Events Centre with the Township of Langley, TWU has opened several new facilities in recent years, including the Jacobson Hall and Skidmore Hall student residences, and the new landmark Robert G. Kuhn Building scheduled to open in 2021.

These enhancements, along with the road name change to University Drive, complement plans for the creation of a University District within the Township of Langley, an economic, educational, cultural, and recreational area spanning TWU’s Langley campus, Fort Langley, and the Langley Events Centre. A vision for the district has been in place since 1993.

“The University District will allow for the expansion of TWU and create a hub of higher learning that will solidify the Township’s reputation as a centre for education and training,” said Township of Langley Mayor Jack Froese.

“Allowing Trinity Western to develop to its full potential and creating an integrated university community in the surrounding area will help Langley students receive an excellent foundation close to home, attract international students looking for a high-quality education, bolster employment, and strengthen our economy,” Froese said.

“We are honoured by the recognition the University District designation brings to Trinity Western University, and recognize the extraordinary privilege and responsibility we have," President Husbands said. "As people in Langley and across Canada prepare for economic recovery beyond 2020, we are committed to strengthening our standing within the Township and our surrounding community."

Established in 1962, Trinity Western is a provincially chartered Christian liberal arts, sciences, and professional studies university that has served thousands of BC residents and has over 30,000 alumni from more than 80 countries around the world.

With 800 faculty, researchers, and staff working at TWU, the University is the Township's third-largest employer, contributing more than $300 million annually to Township, regional, and provincial economies.

Ensuring the health of the local economy and the community is even more important to TWU in light of COVID-19, and the University has addressed the challenge posed by the pandemic by creating TWU Access, a multi-access student experience available to those attending classes in person or online.
