Peter and Stephanie Chung establish two $50,000 endowments at TWU in memory of their son

Dr. Peter Chung, his wife, Dr. Stephanie Chung, and the Eminata Group have established two scholarships at Trinity Western University in memory of the Chungs’ son Joseph. A  $100,000 donation was recently presented to the University and will be used to recognize and award undergraduate and graduate education students who are passionate about pursuing a minor in Special Education.

“We are extremely grateful to Drs. Peter and Stephanie Chung. They have chosen to leave a lasting legacy at TWU through the Joseph Chung Scholarships,” said President Jonathan S. Raymond, Ph.D. “Students pursuing education degrees with a focus in special education will be encouraged to make a difference because of the Chungs’ desire to help others in memory of their beloved son Joseph.”

The newly established endowments were developed to recognize Joseph Chung’s remarkable life of perseverance and transformation through the struggle of his physical and mental challenges.

“Joseph was our eldest child and as parents, we had dedicated Joseph's life to God at conception,” said Dr. Chung, “Even though he touched this world in his own unique way, Joseph could not pursue post-secondary education due to the obstacles placed in his path. Now as a family, we pray that others can work hard and study so that they may walk the path that Joseph could not.”

The Eminata Group, founded by Drs. Peter and Stephanie Chung in 1995, is driven by a mission to positively impact lives through education, service, and care. As one of Canada’s largest private providers of post-secondary education, The Eminata Group is responsible for thousands of students receiving credentials through its many educational institutions.
