TWU Appoints Award-Winning Professor as Dean of the School of Nursing

LANGLEY, British Columbia.

Trinity Western University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sheryl Reimer-Kirkham as Dean of the School of Nursing.  She brings academic distinction, a wealth of experience, and highly informed perspectives on nursing to her new role, and looks forward to supporting the school’s continued success as a national leader in nursing education.

Dr. Reimer-Kirkham received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Victoria and her Masters and PhD from the University of British Columbia. She is a committed educator, respected academic leader, and internationally regarded for her research on diversity, equity and human rights. Among other awards, Reimer-Kirkham was a recipient of the 2019 UBC School of Nursing Centenary Medal of Distinction and was appointed in 2014 to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Scientists and Artists.

“I am deeply honoured to be chosen to lead TWU’s School of Nursing. Our phenomenal faculty, students, and alumni are dedicated to excellence in nursing and healthcare, and provide leadership locally, nationally, and globally to meet humanity’s most pressing needs”, says Reimer-Kirkham, who joined TWU School of Nursing in 2000.

Dr. Reimer-Kirkham believes in Trinity Western’s unique transformative space as a faith-based university that nurtures excellent leaders, outstanding research, and teaches students to “think deeply, act justly, and care generously.”

“She is an exemplary faculty member and has provided excellent administrative leadership in the Master of Science in Nursing program since 2009,” says Dr. W. Robert Wood,
Provost. Trinity Western University is grateful to have such a sought-after and acclaimed professor dedicated to lead the university and students in the field of nursing.
