TWU launches international business MBA in Richmond

The TWU program is the first of its kind in Richmond and designed for students working full-time.

Trinity Western University has launched the city of Richmond’s first Master of Business Administration program. Classes for the MBA, which features an international business specialization, begin in September 2016 at TWU Richmond on Minoru Boulevard.

“I think we’re all in a global marketplace,” said Murray MacTavish, the director of TWU’s MBA program, which has been offered at its Langley campus since 2007.

“Whether you’re in a small town or a major city—we’re all doing business globally and thinking globally. Richmond is a very international city, which attracts significant international investment. We saw an opportunity to offer an MBA program that would be attractive not only to business professionals based there, but also in Vancouver and elsewhere.”

The program includes an immersive three-week international travel course, during which students will visit global businesses to learn firsthand the best practices of some of the most successful companies in the world. Past students in TWU’s international business MBA program have visited Lamborghini, Maserati, BMW, Bombardier, L’Oréal Paris, illy Caffè, and Lavazza Caffè.

The program is designed for working adults. It features flexible start dates, small class sizes, and intensive classroom sessions. Classes will take place Thursday evenings, Fridays and Saturdays so that professionals in the program can continue to work full-time. Students can expect to complete the program in 18 to 20 months.

Applications are now open. The program has a rolling entry, which means students can start throughout the year.

Trinity Western University’s Langley-based MBA program offers two other specializations in addition to international business: management of the growing enterprise, and non-profit and charitable organizations.
