More than 20 years ago, Teeter was a University intern researching how TWU could better engage its graduates. Today, he returns to lead that work as Senior Director of Alumni Engagement.
An alumnus and former staff member, Teeter brings extensive experience in student development, team leadership, and community engagement. Following eight years as Director of Athletics and Recreation at Columbia Bible College, he sees his return to TWU as a homecoming.
“I feel blessed to be returning to a place that is home to me, where my faith and leadership were shaped in positive and transformative ways,” says Teeter. “My family and I are all in for this next season, and I am excited to serve my fellow alumni.”
His vision for alumni engagement extends across every season of life, from graduation and a first job through career transitions, family life, leadership, and service. He hopes to help graduates remain connected with one another and with the University as they live out their calling in their workplaces and communities.
“I look forward to praying for alumni, encouraging them, and connecting them with one another and with current students,” Teeter says. “My hope is that graduates recognize the value of being TWU alumni for life and know that we want to walk alongside them.”
A university experience that shaped a vocation
Growing up in Owen Sound, Ontario, Teeter knew he wanted to study both business and Scripture. By Grade 11, he had set his sights on TWU.
While pursuing his studies, he became deeply involved in campus life, serving in student government, residence life, and recreation, eventually becoming vice president of the TWU Student Association (TWUSA). Through these experiences, he developed leadership skills that would shape his career and discovered the value of building strong communities.
His time at TWU also played an important role in his faith journey. Through biblical studies, chapel, discipleship groups, and relationships with mentors, he found space to deepen his faith and grow as a leader.
Experience building community
In 2002, Teeter joined the President's Internship Program under former president Dr. Neil Snider. One of his assignments involved researching ways to strengthen connections with recent graduates, providing an early introduction to alumni engagement.
Over the next 15 years, he served in a variety of University roles spanning student development, orientation, career experience, wellness, recreation, and community life. He also coached the men's club soccer team for nine years, completed a Master of Arts in Leadership, and served on the Staff Association.
“These experiences reinforced the importance of creating opportunities for people to connect, grow, and support one another,” Teeter says. “I am excited to bring my experience, care for others, and strengths in strategic planning and implementation to the Alumni Engagement Office.”
Looking ahead
As he begins his new role, Teeter is focused on listening to alumni and understanding how TWU can best support them.
“I want to learn what matters to alumni, how we can be praying for them, and how we can encourage and support them through each season of life,” he says. “We want to grow a thriving alumni community where graduates feel encouraged and equipped to live generously.”
Whether you’ve stayed connected to TWU over the years or are looking for new ways to get involved, Teeter would love to hear from you. He looks forward to hearing your stories, celebrating your journeys, and strengthening our alumni community together.
