The Faculty Speaker Series returns with a fresh round, celebrating innovative research by TWU researchers. November's speaker is Dr. Yeeun Archer Lee.
Topic: Are We Facing a Loneliness Epidemic, or Choosing Connection?: From Everyday Kindness to Global Trends
Is social connection a choice or a necessity for human flourishing? Loneliness and isolation are increasingly recognized as threats to health and well-being. In this talk, I will present a series of studies on what is needed to restore human connection on multiple levels: an acts-of-kindness intervention to reduce loneliness at the individual level, neighborhood social cohesion as a resource for community resilience, and global trends in social support. Together, this talk discusses what it means to build more connected individuals and communities in an increasingly isolated world.
Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend.
