Alum Madison Fleischer turns fashion design into fundraising for Ukraine

When alum Madison Fleischer (’21) and her mother witnessed all that was happening in Ukraine, they were inspired to turn their fashion line into a fundraising campaign.

“My great grandparents were from Lviv,” said Madison, who studied Political Studies and Media + Communications at TWU and is currently pursuing a law degree from a university in Australia. During her time at TWU, Madison was active in various Student Ministries and Student Leadership roles. She served as VP of Academic Relations on TWU’s Student Association (2019-2020) and played on the Spartans Women’s Rugby team.

She and her mother Lisa were working on a clothing line when they decided to pivot to creating sweatshirts with the purpose of “expand[ing] their love for fashion, politics and community service” and donating proceeds to benefit the people of Ukraine. Both she and her mother have the desire to use their time and talent to make a difference.

Madison is now the founder and designer of Slava Sweatshirts. This fashionable fundraiser for Ukraine has captured the attention of local media. Recently the mother-daughter duo was featured on Global TV among other outlets.
