Grad and faculty member Rob Olguin starts new theatre company

Having recently received his MFA in Acting from the Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Washington, Rob returned to Vancouver in the fall of 2009 to become the Theatre Department's newest faculty member. This fall, he will launch Glass City Theatre, a new company founded with TWU grads Lois Dawson and Michael Wipf. Glass City will present two shows as guest artist productions in Pacific Theatre's 2010/11 Season.

The first is a solo show called Stretch Dog, which Rob wrote while a grad student. Presented as part of Pacific Theatre's Fringe of the Fringe, Stretch Dog will be directed by Mike Wipf and stage managed by TWU grad Charlene Crawford. Then in March, Glass City presents Stephen Adly Giugis' Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, in which Rob will take on the central role of Angel under the direction of Theatre Department Chair and Jessie-winning director, Angela Konrad.

As noted in Pacific Theatre's season brochure, Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train is an "extraordinarily provocative, fiercely comic, and relentlessly intelligent confrontation with ultimate questions of human evil and the possibility of redemption". Tickets are available through the Pacific Theatre box office (www.pacifictheatre.org).
