Eighteen-year-old Paralympic rookie Braedon Dolfo of Langley was seventh in 11.27 seconds, just off his personal best and Canadian record 11.26, which he ran in heats on August 31 at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
"To finish seventh in the world is a blessing," said Dolfo, who was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He has glaucoma and chronic uveitis, a condition that results in five per cent vision out of both eyes, something he's been living with since he was five-years-old.
Dolfo, who trained with the Trinity Western University Spartans all last year, will compete in the 4 x 100m on September 5 and the 200m on September 6 and 7. He will begin his first year of studies at TWU when he returns to Canada.
The Spartans are also represented at the Paralympic Games by track and field coach Laurier Primeau, who is Canada’s Paralympic head coach for track and field, and sprinter Dylan Williamson, who is the guide for Canadian Dustin Walsh. And, TWU alum Joan Reid will compete in rowing.
