Trinity Western University (TWU) is undertaking budget and workforce reductions in response to financial pressures affecting universities across Canada, following recent federal policy changes that have significantly reduced international student enrolment nationwide.
As a result of these changes, TWU is taking action to align operations with lower forecasted enrolment levels. As part of this alignment, the University is implementing budget adjustments, including reduced work hours, contract changes, and position closures. These decisions are difficult but necessary to ensure TWU’s long-term sustainability and the ongoing vitality of its mission.
These decisions have not been taken lightly. We recognize the impact of these measures on valued colleagues and their families. Trinity Western is providing support to affected employees through career transition assistance, counselling services, pastoral care, and access to additional benefits. We honour the meaningful contributions every individual has made to the life of the University.
In a recent message to faculty and staff, President Martin expressed his appreciation:
“We are deeply grateful for the contributions of every individual in advancing the mission and vision of Trinity Western University. Though structures and seasons change, the influence of your faithful work endures—in the lives of students and graduates, and the greater community.”
Trinity Western remains fully committed to providing students with a high-quality, academically rigorous educational experience that integrates faith and learning to equip graduates for life. All academic programs and courses will continue as planned. Classes, academic supports, and the overall student experience remain our priority.
As we navigate this challenging season for postsecondary institutions across Canada, our focus remains clear: to faithfully steward our calling as a distinctly Christian university, to serve students with excellence, and to equip every graduate to think truthfully, act justly, and live faithfully for the good of the world and the glory of God.
