TWU alumnus Dr. Simon Moore Receives Mensa Canada Distinguished Educator Award

TWU alumnus Dr. Simon Moore (‘05), CEO and Co-founder of The Review Course in Family Medicine, was awarded the 2020 Mensa Canada Distinguished Educator Award in January this year. The Award recognizes an educator for their positive impact on the education or life of a Mensa member. Dr. Moore was nominated by Mensa member Dr. Paul Dhillon, fellow Co-founder of The Review Course in Family Medicine.

Mensa is an organization for people who score in the top 2% in intelligence tests. It is also known as the International High-IQ Society.

“Simon has a unique ability to not only transfer educational content...to students at all levels in a manner that is thoughtful, humourous when required, and most importantly in the landslide of medical knowledge that must be consumed—memorable,” says Dr. Dhillon. “It was a unique relationship [working alongside Simon] that allowed for harsh, unfiltered feedback on how to improve myself and incredible to see the positive effect that he has had across the Canadian Family Medicine landscape over the past 5 years.”

In addition to being a family physician in Vancouver B.C., and working at the Vancouver Urgent Care clinic and at a Surrey Indigenous Health Clinic, Dr. Moore is a regular keynote speaker across the country. He is passionate about making learning as entertaining as it is educational and has taught over 2000 participants of The Review Course in Family Medicine in the last five years across major cities in Canada.
