TWU Chamber Singers to perform music that delights the soul

TWU Chamber Singers present an upbeat take on traditional songs.

Trinity Western University presents Delight, a pair of choral concerts in Abbotsford and Langley on November 6 and 7. The SAMC Chamber Singers, a 17-voice ensemble in the School of the Arts, Media + Culture (SAMC), performs under the direction of Dr. Joel Tranquilla, award-winning conductor and Director of Choral Activities at TWU.

Delight offers an upbeat program of thanksgiving and praise, with classics by some of the most prolific composers of choral music.

Monteverdi’s setting of Psalm 112 offers a fresh experience of a well-known text; this uplifting work features a professional chamber orchestra performing with the Chamber Singers. Stanford’s lively Psalm 119 setting features organist Edward Norman, and Britten’s Psalm 100 is an awe-filled piece fit for a cathedral. Major works include Bach’s Cantata BWV 140 and The Beatitudes by contemporary composer Arvo Pärt.
