Jodi McBride, EdD
Jodi McBride is Interim Program Director and Assistant Professor of Leadership in the Master of Arts in Leadership (MA Lead) program at Trinity Western University (TWU). A graduate of the MA Lead program herself, she began teaching in 2019 and became a full-time faculty member in 2024. She earned her Doctor of Education at Walden University, where she focused on transformative adult learning. Her dissertation, grounded in Mezirow’s transformative learning theory, explored the barriers novice early childhood educators experience when applying pre-service knowledge in practice. This work reflects her deep commitment to adult learning, growth, and transformation.
Before joining TWU, Jodi spent over a decade leading a nonprofit focused on literacy and life skills for underserved populations. As Executive Director of Read Right Society, she designed and led a wide range of community-based programs, including adult literacy, ESL and settlement support, youth engagement, legal aid partnerships, and early childhood education. One of her most impactful initiatives was envisioning and spearheading Swetexel Daycare and Preschool, a reconciliation-based social enterprise developed in partnership with Yale First Nation and Grace Baptist Church. The centre models cross-sector collaboration and culturally grounded community service.
Jodi brings over 20 years of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, and curriculum development. Her curriculum design experience spans kindergarten through grade seven, community programming, and graduate-level education. Her diverse teaching background includes international and local contexts, including Mexico, Japan, the United States, and Canada. These cross-cultural experiences have shaped her inclusive and relational approach to education. Her leadership is rooted in servant leadership, organizational development, and systems thinking. Jodi is passionate about creating inclusive, learner-centered environments and empowering learners to grow into confident, capable leaders. She lives on the unceded territory of Chawathil First Nation in Hope, British Columbia.
