The hope of the resurrection

Easter Sunday message from TWU President

Dear TWU community,

On Easter morning, Christians greet each other with the words “Christ is risen!” With hearts full of praise, we join Christians around the world in celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate because Christ has won victory over death. When his friend Lazarus passed away, Jesus met Martha with the following words:

“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25–26). Bringing hope to the world, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, revealing his power over death itself.

The good news of Christ's resurrection—his victory over sin, death, brokenness, and alienation—is salvation for all who turn to him in faith. Easter is the celebration of a new beginning: a beginning that can arise in each of our lives. We all need the hope of the resurrection.

Today, we share in the celebration of Jesus' victory over death and suffering. In a world broken by sin, violence, and loneliness, we invite you to seek forgiveness, renewal, joy, and a living fellowship with God, as the risen Christ transforms our hearts and minds.

We have a bright hope in the risen Lord. Thanks be to God, who seeks to bring life to all!

Grace and peace,

Mark Husbands, Ph.D.

President & Vice-Chancellor
