TWU recital to feature renowned organist and oboe soloist

TWU’s School of the Arts, Media + Culture (SAMC) presents the Faculty + Friends Recital featuring organist, Edward Norman and oboe soloist, Erin Marks on Oct 17 at 7:30pm at Langley Canadian Reformed Church. This is the third Faculty + Friends Recital to be hosted by SAMC as a way to give back to family, friends, and the surrounding community.

Spotlights will include three major organ works by Bach, Mozart, and Marcel Dupré, including chorale preludes in a jazz style by contemporary German composers, all highlighting the astounding talent of TWU’s very own musical instructor, Edward Norman.

As a renowned recitalist, Norman’s talent has led him to perform in Poland, Germany, Tokyo, and all over North America including several years with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with many esteemed musicians including those in the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony, and the Kingston Symphony.

“I am excited to showcase the pipe organ at its richest,” says Edward Norman. He hopes the variety of thoughtful pieces will showcase the beauty of the instrument. Complementing him will be the talent of Erin Marks, acclaimed oboist who has performed on Broadway, in Germany, and across the Dominican Republic. Duo repertoire by Norman and Marks will include Vivaldi, Bernstein, and Piazzolla.
