God has shaped me through my weaknesses so that I can have a clear lens of learners, understand their learning challenges, and support them with genuine heart. As an apprentice of Jesus Christ, I continually look forward to His guidance and wisdom to serve my students and colleagues and bear much fruit in Him.

Shine earned her first Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering in Incheon, South Korea, where she conducted research on the development of a bio-membrane reactor for wastewater treatment. Following God's calling, she made a significant career transition from engineering to English language education in 2007. She taught grammar, Junior TOEIC, and TOEFL to teenage students at private language institutes in Seoul for two years before joining the Master of Arts in TESOL (MATESOL) program at Trinity Western University in 2011. After earning her second Master’s degree in TESOL, Shine began teaching academic writing to first-year undergraduate students at Trinity Western University. She has also served as a Course Lead for the academic writing team and as the Academic Director of International Pathway programs for approximately five years. She is currently overseeing the University Transition First Year (U1) and Graduate Transition Programs (GTP) and pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Learning Sciences.
