For Employers
Employers are more than recruiters — they’re partners in developing talent, mentoring the next generation, and helping shape confident, capable graduates who contribute to stronger workplaces and communities.
Employer Impact Pathways
Employers play a vital role in helping TWU students discover, equip, and launch their careers. By engaging with students, industry partners not only strengthen the future workforce, but also build their organization’s profile, expand professional networks, and gain fresh perspectives and emerging talent. Flexible engagement. Real impact.
There’s no fixed path; you can engage across one or multiple pathways at the same time, aligned with your goals, capacity, and priorities. Your organization may combine networking, mentorship, and work-integrated learning in ways that work best for you.
Connect
High impact, low time commitment. Gain visibility, access motivated students early, and position your organization as a trusted career partner.
Post Job Opportunities
List your Work-Integrated Learning (i.e. internship) and job opportunities on TWU’s Career Connect job board, which is frequented by students and new grads. This connects you with motivated, values-driven talent. Register and post your opportunity at Career Connect - TWU - Employers & Community Partners - Employer Account Registration to post on our university portal.
Attend the Annual Career Fair
Reserve a booth at TWU’s annual career fair to meet hundreds of students face-to-face. This is our largest recruiting event of the year, ideal for showcasing your organization, sharing internships and job opportunities, and identifying potential candidates early.
Serve as a Panelist or Speaker
Volunteer a small portion of your time to speak on an industry panel, a Q&A session, or in a classroom. As a panelist or speaker, you will broaden students understanding of career paths and give them the opportunity to engage with real-world professionals. At the same time, you can position yourself as a thought leader while sharing your career journey and advice.
Conduct an Informational Interview/Way-finding Conversation
Give as little as 30 minutes of your time for a one-time conversation (virtual or in person) with a student who is curious about your industry or career path. Your insights can change the trajectory of a student’s career by helping them clarify their direction and provide a connection to their industry of interest.

Collaborate
Ongoing and deeper engagement. Develop talent through meaningful learning opportunities and bring fresh ideas into your workplace while developing a future-ready talent pipeline.
Host a TWU Student through Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)
Work-Integrated Learning is curricular, hands-on experience that connects what students learn in the classroom to real work in real organizations. It’s your opportunity to bring a motivated student into your team and let them apply their learning while contributing meaningfully to your organization. It’s one of the simplest, most impactful ways to tap into emerging talent and add fresh energy to your workplace. Employers can participate in WIL in the following ways:
- Offer an Internship or Co-op (paid): Welcome a TWU student into your team for a semester (4-months) or up to a year, part-time or full-time, through a paid internship or co-op. Students step into real roles, contribute to active projects, and apply what they’re learning in the classroom to the challenges your organization is solving right now. It’s an energizing way to add immediate support while getting to know potential long-term talent in a low-risk, high-impact format.
- Offer a Part-Time Field Placement or Practicum (unpaid): These are program-required WIL 4-month experiences allow students to join your team a few hours a week to assist with projects, support tasks, or shadow professionals. It’s a simple, flexible way to bring new energy into your workplace while giving students real exposure to your industry.
It’s a true win-win: you gain fresh perspectives and extra help, while providing meaningful work that accelerates the student’s learning and career readiness by connecting theory to practice.
Lead a Workshop or Applied Learning Session
Facilitate a workshop or training on career readiness, leadership, or a technical skill. Enhance your brand as a thought leader and mentor, while helping students gain tangible skills and exposure to industry practices.
Host Mock Interviews for Students
Help students prepare for real-world recruitment and interview processes. Recruiters, HR professionals, and industry specialists can simulate typical interview questions, provide constructive feedback, and share insights on what employers look for in candidates. These 20-30 minute sessions give students a realistic view of professional expectations while strengthening their confidence and communication skills.
Mentor a Student
If you are interested in deeper engagement with a student, mentorship builds on the foundation of an informational interview/way-finding conversation. By committing 1-2 hours per month over 8 months, mentors provide ongoing guidance, encouragement, and insight as a student navigates career decisions and skill development. Through consistent connection, mentors help students move from exploration to confidence — opening doors to networks, modelling leadership, and shaping the next generation of professionals in a lasting way.

Champion
Strategic Partnership, sustained leadership-level commitment. Employers and alumni who have made student engagement a core part of their mission.
Multiple Interns & Priority Hiring of TWU Graduates
Champions often make TWU a key school for engagement recruitment. For instance, you might hire multiple students as interns year after year and across multiple departments under the Work Integrated Learning model, or commit to recruiting a certain number of TWU graduates annually. Some champion employers establish a formal “TWU hiring pipeline” or preferential interviewing for TWU students.
Host Students On-Site (Job Shadowing or Tour)
Invite a group of students to visit your workplace for a day of job shadowing, office tour, or a “Day in the Life” program. By opening your doors, you give students a tangible sense of your company culture and industry, and you position your organization as an employer of choice for future grads. Seeing a real workplace broadens their horizons, builds their confidence, and helps them envision their career path (often sparking motivation in their studies).
Host an Executive Leadership Series: Insights from the C-Suite
Bring your organization’s senior leaders to the TWU classroom to share authentic insights, leadership stories, and lessons learned from real-world experience. Whether discussing innovation, ethics, or career growth, these sessions allow students to connect theory with practice while gaining inspiration from professionals who lead with purpose.
