Courses in Mandarin Chinese are offered at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced level, including a film and culture course for native speakers of Mandarin. The introductory courses are designed for students with no previous knowledge of either Mandarin or Cantonese. The emphasis is on listening comprehension and conversational practice while reading and writing skills are also introduced. The intermediate and advanced courses are offered as directed studies, which students may take with permission. All levels include cultural components.
