Ceremony FAQ

A graduand is an individual that is eligible to graduate but has not yet graduated. Once your degree has been presented, you become a graduate.

Each graduand is invited to register two guests to bring to the ceremony. Children aged two and under do not require their own ticket if they are seated on the lap of an adult. We encourage you to invite additional friends and family to celebrate your accomplishments by having them join the graduation ceremony via the livestream.

Yes. If we have additional tickets available, they will be released two to three weeks prior to the graduation ceremony. Graduands will be contacted in advance with exact details on the date and time of the release of these tickets. Check your TWU email for all updated information about the graduation ceremony. Tickets will be released on a first-come, first-served basis and may sell out.

No, you do not, but we encourage you and your family and friends to celebrate your accomplishments by watching the graduation ceremony via the livestream.

Please dress business casual. Sturdy footwear is recommended as graduands will be required to be standing for a long period of time. For our master’s students only; please note that your regalia does not have sleeves; plain dress shirts/blouses with full sleeves is preferred. 

There will be an unattended coat check for students only. Bags and purses should not be checked, so please plan accordingly, and leave your valuables at home or with your guests.

Graduands are required to check in to student holding one hour and 30 minutes prior to the graduation ceremony. Any late arrivals will not be able to participate in the graduation ceremony. The location of student holding will be emailed to graduands prior to the graduation ceremony. Guests of graduands are not allowed in student holding. Please direct them to the ceremony location.

Seating for our graduation ceremonies is general admission and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that graduand and faculty seating are reserved for the front of the venue.

Pay parking is available at all the parking lots available on campus. Complementary parking is available at the Langley Events Centre for our spring graduation ceremony only.

This always depends on the number of graduands graduating. We do aim for each ceremony to run approximately 75 to 90 minutes long.

Unfortunately, to plan accordingly, we do require all graduands to register for the graduation ceremony in advance.

Artona will be offering two graduate photo options this year. They will take one photo on stage and another off stage, proudly displaying your degree.

If you are attending the in-person ceremony, you will be required to rent regalia to participate in the processional and sit with the other graduands. The cost of renting regalia is the responsibility of the graduand. Regalia rental for at-home celebrations is optional. Unfortunately, this is only available to Canadian residents. Additional shipping costs will apply. 

No, you must be present with a valid ID to pick up your regalia.

A return mailing label is included with your rental. An additional shipping fee is applied.

For those participating in the in-person ceremony, the regalia will be delivered to the graduation ceremony location. Early regalia pickup for our spring ceremony might be available. You must be present with a valid ID to pick up your regalia. Friends and family are not able to pick up regalia for you.

Most student diplomas will be sent out in the mail after the date of conferral. We will email you to confirm your current/preferred delivery address when your diploma is ready to be mailed. On-campus pickup in Langley may also be arranged. More information will be sent out by email once your diploma has been issued.
