Global Contemporary Art History
Description
Focuses on contemporary art and art exhibitions of the last 40 years from Africa, Asia, Indigenous North America, Latin America, and Oceania. Uses the lens of the exhibition space to explore historical perspectives, politics, practices of display and collection that affect art. Students will explore the diverse and dynamic globalization of contemporary art. Situating art practices within their cultural contexts, students will examine how non-Western religious, political and philosophical perspectives are shaping the world today.
