Frequently Asked Questions

You have the option to select your own housing assignment (roommate and room)! If you don’t choose to select your roommate/room, after May 15, Housing will begin manual placements, and you’ll be able to see your assignment after May 15. Once assigned, you can view your placement in your Housing Checklist section of the Campus Portal. You won’t get a notification when you’re placed, so please check your Housing Checklist often.

Once you have been assigned a room, you can view your roommate information and housing placement through the Housing Checklist in your campus portal. If a roommate has not yet been assigned, please check back periodically for updates.  
 

Move-in dates vary depending on your student status (new international, new domestic, or returning student). Details about dates, check-in times, and arrival instructions will be emailed prior to move-in but they can also be found in our Dates & Deadlines. 

We do not allow early arrivals. Your room will not be ready until your assigned move in date.

Recommended Move-In Checklist: Twin bedding, towels, personal toiletries, laundry supplies, seasonal clothing, school supplies, and personal electronics. Please review Resident Life and Housing Policies for restrictions on decorations and prohibited items. 

Yes. Your TWU ID card is required to access your residence building and room. Please submit your ID card request before arriving on campus.

Check your housing assignment, request your ID card, review move-in instructions, complete any required forms, and monitor your @mytwu.ca email for updates.

Students are provided with a twin or twin bunk bed, dresser, desk, chair, wastebasket, and wireless internet access. Apartment residents are also provided with living room and dining room furniture.

Yes, but decorations must comply with Resident Life and Housing Policies.

Some appliances are permitted while others are prohibited for fire safety reasons. Please review Resident Life and Housing Policies before bringing cooking appliances or electronics.

Room change requests may be considered after move-in, depending on availability and Housing policies. To submit a room change request, click here.

Students are encouraged to communicate directly with their roommate first. Residence Life staff are available to help support conversations and discuss options if concerns continue.

Residence students have access to laundry facilities, study spaces and lounges, refrigerators and microwaves in residence buildings, and wireless internet.

Yes. Wireless internet access is available in residence buildings. 

Visit the Parking Services website for information about permits, pricing, and regulations. 

TWU has an onsite mail and courier services available for students. 

Yes. Secure bicycle storage is available on campus. Bikes must be registered and may not be stored in residence hallways or rooms. Submit a bike shed access request.

Maintenance concerns can be submitted through Asset Essentials.

Yes, you can remain in residence during academic breaks. There is an additional fee that varies by building. To learn more, click here. 

Yes. Meal plans are required for all resident students. Commuter students may also purchase a meal plan, and additional Flex Dollars and Block Swipes can be added throughout the year. View meal plan options for more details.

Because the cafeteria operates on an all-you-care-to-eat model, take-out meals are not available. However, Starbucks and the Campus Store Café offer grab-and-go options.

If you no longer plan to attend TWU or no longer require housing, please complete a Housing Withdrawal Form as soon as possible. Housing withdrawal deadlines and applicable fees can be found in your Housing Agreement. 

Students requiring accommodation should contact Housing and Accessibility Services as early as possible so requests can be reviewed before move-in. No changes to meal plans will be made after Add/Drop. 

Students living on campus are expected to follow all Resident Life and Housing Policies.

Due to student privacy requirements, Housing staff may only be able to discuss certain information directly with the student. If you would like additional access, a Release of Information form will need to be completed by the student.
