Trinity Western University’s Department of Art + Design is pleased to invite the community to our first Art Walk of the semester, celebrating the opening of two group exhibitions: Meet the Grads and Recess. 

Over the course of the evening, we will hear from the artists, enjoy refreshments, and visit the exhibitions. 

• 6:15–7:20 p.m. | Meet in Jacobson Hall for Meet the Grads artist talks and celebration 
• 7:20–7:30 p.m. | Walk to SAMC Gallery
• 7:30–8 p.m. | Recess artist talks and celebration

Meet the Grads is a group art exhibition, introducing the work of the Art + Design graduating class of 2027. As these artists embark on a year of creating artwork together, culminating in their capstone exhibition in spring 2027, Meet the Grads provides an opportunity for artists to introduce themselves to the TWU community and learn about the process of exhibition making. Through the multimedia works exhibited in this student-curated exhibition, students explore influences that have shaped them as artists. The exhibition features the work of Hanna Berg, Heidi Chen, Emma Helgason, Ben Kim, Lola Loveday, and Alanna Zhao.

Recess presents new work by TWU students and alumni Rachel Kehler, Oli Nicholson, Yesom (Ben) Kim, Isaiah Baek, Zoe Towne, and Letong (Pink) Chen, created during Trinity Western University’s inaugural Artist-in-Residence program.

Working across a range of media, the six artists explore humour, play, rest, community, and connection while also engaging with themes such as memory, home, relationships, artificial intelligence, and what it means to be human.

Guests are welcome to join for all or part of the evening's activities.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.
